Japan Earthquakes

We all have heard the Japan earthquakes and the great devastation that it has caused. Japan has been hit by a number of very strong earthquakes in a very short amount of time. This has made scientists wonder what is going on that is causing such great earthquakes in that area as well as is there a threat for more in Japan, and in other locations around the world.

Earthquakes are caused by the Earth’s tectonic plates moving together and pulling apart. When they make these changes it changes the land and anything else that is located directly above and in the vicinity of the impact. Massive earthquakes are caused by a greater movement. There is obviously a higher risk for earthquakes in the places that are located above the fault line. The fault line is the location that two tectonic plates meet, which is also where they are going to move against and pull apart from each other creating disasters.

Cities were built right over top of these fault lines without knowing that they were there and once they were dicovered it was too late to move the entire city. Take a look at the what has been happening in Japan as a result of these massive quakes.
